Unlike most of you I came to my current career a little later in life.
Even though I have always had an interest in all things technical (I can clearly remember being the first of all my friends to own a computer) I started my working life as a Chef.
In fact I spent 20 years working as a chef and I have also worked in some of Brisbane’s best restaurants. This was back when being a Chef was all about hard work and not about being a celebrity, even though I have worked overseas with one or two of those as well (Celebrity Chefs that is). It was a great job for a young man who was just as interested in his social life as he was in earning money and moving ahead in his chosen profession.
It was after my wife and I had our first child that I realized this life was no longer right for me or my growing family. I knew I would have to go back to study and spent a considerable amount of time weighing up the most suitable profession.
It was a bit of a light bulb moment when I worked out that studying I.T. would be the right path for me. I think that I was more dedicated to succeed than those students half my age as I could not afford to waste the opportunity that I had, many sacrifices were made by my wife to enable me to go back to full time study so I knew I had to work hard to make sure I was successful.
Even though it was difficult going back to a full time learning environment I enjoyed the challenge and just before I finished my study I was offered a full time job with a Gold Coast I.T. Company. I gained a lot of experience in those first few years.
I have now been involved with computers and I.T. for nearly 8 years and have not looked back. I have great clients and have also recently expanded my business into web design and online marketing as I want to bring the knowledge I have in both these areas to my clients to help them to grow their profile and expand their business.
